Clouds

I love photographs of gentle clouds, dreamy, wistful, always on their way, and often wish to be among them, light-hearted, carefree, flying.

I love, I wish, I am...

Then it's back to ground eventually, where I belong, to long for those clouds, those places faraway without earthly souls and grief, in reprieve.

P.S.: There is an empyreal beauty in longing for things beyond one's reach.

Always the Wind

I can fly, I can dance, I can be myself.
Like the bird, the bee, the balloons,
To north, east, south, or west,
From Great Wall to Texas ghost town.
Red, blue, green and yellow,
Trembling feathers, stripped torso, smiling motley,
Teetering in the wind.
Always the wind.

I can fly, I can dance, I can be myself.
Like words, a ballerina, a baby,
To music, feel, exultation, or beauty,
From pleasure to wonderment.
Red, blue, green and yellow,
Coiled snakes, graceful swan, giggling bubble,
Teetering in the wind.
Always the wind.

I can fly, I can dance, I can be myself.
LIke a saint, a sinner, a recluse,
To spirit, emotions, serenity, or promises,
From gulit to indifference.
Red, blue, green and yellow,
White light, dark alley, hilly cave,
Teetering in the wind.
Always the wind.

By the River

You probably have passed by this sculpture, if you had been in Singapore. To me, it depicts the children's lives by the river perfectly, with all the playfulness and pureness of childhood. And insofar as my memory serves, I was always fascinated by how the child at the lowest end seems to be suspended in mid-air.(Damn, I think my hands were shaking at this one, that's why it's blurred.)"Wait, wait! Wait for me!" And they all went tumbling down. No, I didn't just upload this from some Singapore tourism website, though, I think it is postcard-perfect.Now, I was standing on this bridge built more than a hundred years ago (1869, to be precise.), a relic of our colony's past, and I couldn't help but thought of EPL. (The Cavenagh Bridge was named after Colonel (later Major-General) Orfeur Cavenagh, the Governor of the Straits Settlements from 1859-1867) I know, this is silly, but in my younger days, my friends and I used to deliberate if the "Big League Soccer" was a remnant of that colonisation mindset which deems all things English as the best. Look, I even spelled with "-ise" instead of "-ize". Okay, now I am walking on thin ice: I was taught Queen's English in School, not that it is the best. The contemporary giants towering above the quaint ancients.

Cloud Watching / A Few of My Favourite Things / Final Glory

5.44 PM: Each plume of cloud seemed to be floating seamlessly towards my left, beguiled by a light gale. I never knew that cloud watching can be so therapeutic.6.15 PM: A wisp of cloud like a sublime brush of Chinese ink, the setting sky in all its nuances, and the glittering, gentle sea, these are a few of my favourite things.
6.30 PM: The setting, golden sun in its final glory. I wished you were beside me.

Note: Pictures taken off West Coast.

In Serenity, Searching for Brightness

In serenity, I wrap up myself comfortably, like warm blanket. All the seasons, all the days, all tranquil, one mirrors another, as viscous water without as much as a ripple. Yet, without the tumultuous age, where is the revitalisation, the filling of vessel with rushing river of life? Dead calm without a vicious emotion, even vicissitudes are unfounded. There is a cry for brightness in the oasis of emptiness. A shooting star flashing across the night sky, even for a moment, etches deep in memory.

Lions Floored by a Sucker Punch!

What a sucker punch! The Lions were attacking for nearly the whole of 90 minutes, but just couldn't find a way to the back of the net. The Vietnamese keeper even pulled a top-drawer save in the second half, palming a pinpoint header to safety. Still, the Lions's effort, in front of a red sea of almost 55,000 fans, couldn't be faulted. This is just not our year, I guess. The Vietnamese team deserved the win, with a solid back four and a quick counter-attacking game plan, rather like the Greece's winning team of Euro 2004. Best of luck to them in the final!

Meandering Path

A meandering path through the forest of life. If our paths were really in asphalt, we wouldn't have been so lost. Then again, where is the sense of adventure? Life is such, if only to allow us to find our own destiny. I know, it's all so cliched.

Note: Picture taken at Botanic Gardens by yours truly.

My Amateurish Photography Begins Here...

A Nikon Coolpix S210 is my latest impulse buy at S$290. Truly, a digital camera is a luxury. Though, I am enjoying every moment...Earlier this year, I was in awe, looking up into the yellow and green maze. This afternoon, the memory flowed back.Despite multiple takes, I still can't seem to catch the exquisite beauty of the pinkish petals to my satisfaction. Imagine my gloom amidst the blooms. It suddenly occurred to me then how the One up there has a weird sense of humour, contriving to add colours to flowers for reproduction purpose, or rather for pollination. Yet, we are drawn to them too. Now, let's play "Spot the Squirrel". I learned that luck and a speedy reaction do play their roles in photography. The furry mate appeared out of nowhere, but was simply too fast for me, scurrying into the shadow of the foliage.I took this, just in case you wonder where I was, and also, it seems to me that anyone who visits the Botanic Gardens would have taken one at least. Say, I wonder have the London swans ever mistaken the fleeting sculptures as their mothers?

P.S.: More of my humble photos will be uploaded later. I am just too exhausted.
