Say, ladies out there, would you go to a foreign country alone with a male friend who is not your boyfriend, hubby or hubby-to-be, and sleep in the same bed with him? Well, she did. Now, I am no admirer of sexual innocence of this sorts. I say, a girl got to know how to protect herself - didn't they teach her in school? On the other hand, her male friend is no angel. But who is? No, I am not saying she deserves it.
Neither am I agreeing that all men are, by their sexual nature, bestial wolves in sheep wool in dark comfy bedroom. Either way, there can only be one victim, yet, even I find it hard to sympathise with her. (who cares what an insignificant blogger writes about me? She doesn't even reveal my name or show my photo!)
So what about the legal procedures initiated to recover the so-called loan of $48,000? A ploy to shut the victim's mouth? All out of unrequited love, or a failed sexual advance? Either way, it has put Jim in a bad light.
A wise auntie - a fellow toastmaster - once told a group of us how silly it is to invest much in a love interest, especially one in initial courtship (Though, I thought, love can be pretty blinding.). She went on to account how prudent it is rather to spend on a woman who is already your life partner as just rewards for taking good care of the household, and having gone through thick and thin with you.
If I were the male friend, taciturnity, at this time, would be most apt.
