"A New Dawn" in the North

Oh, Mr Abdullah! How I wish your leadership was stronger, but sadly, it was no iron fist. You were too nice, if I may say so. You've failed to deliver - especially on the fight against corruption, your Achilles' heel. Raising crime rate and inflation did little to help too.

Mr Mahathir must be laughing and crying at the same time. Laughing at his replacement, exclaiming "I told you so, I told you so." And crying for his beloved UNMO and its impending "tsunami". I say, you never thought you could live to see this day, didn't you, Mr Mahathir? Of course, it is with pleasure no less that I said this. Though, I'm not going to lose my head. Who knows, one day it could be PAP's turn to make LKY turns, perturbed in his bed at night, or in his grave. And it will be no less tumultuous.

You have my condolences, Mr Mahathir. Really. I'm laughing and crying too, if that means anything to you.

My brother-in-law hails from the north. He did not vote, but was shaken, and lamented how Penang will change, and blamed the overseas Chinese for not returning for the poll. This, even after getting his Singapore's permanent residency years back. I guess I couldn't have truly understood how he felt. And this too goes for the Malaysian Chineses over the causeway.

lets hope that genuine, concrete reforms can really be effected in the states taken by the opposition. m'sia needs reforms which are long overdue...
