Fire, they said, taught us desire - for warmth, for destruction.
And desire entails hunger to better oneself, bringing about progress to our world, I added.
Progress, or annihilation?
What's the difference? I concluded.
Then dead silence.
The party all sullen, scattered back to their own space.
The world is in our hands, yet no one lifts a finger to do the right things. In this way, we have chosen our destiny, no one else has. Then again, what's right, what's wrong? Does it really matter? Or have we forgotten their significances? Perhaps, there are secrets in ancient rituals, or traditions long lost by words of mouth. Some things lost can never be found.
Fine rain rustled in the late afternoon. I took a walk down the slippery asphalt lane, umbrella in hand, reminding myself to see this world in all its beauty for one last time - every time - before it disappeared.
Before the beauty ended, before we ended.
