On Films, What-Ifs and the School Holidays

The school holidays are here. Well, on the surface, this has nothing to do with me, apart from saving me from overcrowded morning buses. Then again, you never know.

On Friday night, "The Emperor's Club" was on Channel 5. I caught it for the first time, and like it instantly. Now, Channel 5 is showing "Mr Holland's Opus". Something clicks in me, and an old flame in education is rekindled that leaves my eyes all teary and dreamy. The nostalgic what-ifs pay their visits, inadvertently. I wouldn't be surprised if they had another re-run of Dead Poet Society. And I wouldn't mind it a bit.

I must be a sucker for films with themes on how education changes lives and inspires people, Jack Black's "The School of Rock" included.
