It is a bag of mixed emotions, really. To gain even a little recognition for something you wrote more than 15 years ago. Kind of embarrassing that it was written so long ago, so from an ancient time, that you rather you have forgotten about it. But no, the opportunity came to share it in a little contest for a miserly 30 dollars Grab voucher, and you jumped into it, without a thought, thinking - okay, that is a thought - it easy money. Now, I have to face the consequence. To relive, no, not some past glory, but firstly, my admission to myself that I hardly know now that guy who wrote it, and secondly, how people who knew me then and read the piece, would see me now, having read it again. And of course, there will be questions, like, that was how long ago (since I completed my service)? These, and many others I will have to deal with - all for a miserly 30 dollars Grab voucher! On the other hand, it proves my thoughts right, as I know pretty sure I could win it (only 3 persons get it), and that not a lot of people would take that fictionalised path of writing, or even make the effort or time to do it. Writing takes a flame of passion. Something I wish I have more of nowadays.
