The Answers
After Mark Strand and Stephen Dunn
Why don't you talk?
Silence, really, is a gentle language.
Why don't you talk?
It's all in the timing. Sometimes, words spoken are best
forgotten, only to be recalled when the hours are right.
Why don't you talk?
Not that my words are sealed.
Only that my mind is locked.
Why don't you talk?
Because I see the beauty of the empty air.
Why don't you talk?
Because only you could have known
how words pass through your mind
before they pass through my lips.

P.S.: Wrote this on a MRT journey after reading Stephen Dunn's "The Answers". If you sense a "formal element", it's from Mark Strand.
