Friday Night's Ramble

Friday, the second day of CNY. I was in, watching junk TV programmes, eating junk food, drinking junk (softdrink and such, no alcohol, I detest a pot-belly) and talking more junk. Now, I'm writing junk, and proud of it.

And yes, I lost S$9 at "Three Stick" (a card game, loosely translated from Hokkien) - can't complain, the measly amount considered. CNY, as always, are great times for the kids, so much so that my nephew refused to go home. They do all the above, except that we adults get to do them whenever we want to.

The thing about kids nowadays is that they are more conscious about the value of money. My two nieces were going around, distributing the goodies and drinks, at the same time, asking for money for their service. Talk about entrepreneurship - CNY's style. Though, my nephew has a habit of leaving his ang pao strewn around.

This year, my sixth uncle was absent - for the first time, as far as I can remember. I asked my mum about it, thinking he is working overseas or something like that. But it seems that he is embarrassed by his bachelorhood, and strives to avoid our relatives' nosy questions. I really don't know if I were him, will I do the same. But to not see your relatives because of a few questions, that is a bit uncalled for. Of course, I'm only speaking as me at this point of my life, which isn't much fair.
