Why did the chicken cross the road? Now, this is no joke, and the one-liner was quite nicely taken into another context by her. In the process, it becomes more a philosophical question, I would think. Self-actualisation is indeed an important definition in face of life and death - at least to me. If life is truly meaningless (why did it need to get to the other side in the first place?), more so should we live it with purpose. Suicide is an act of cowardice, of mental weakness, in which you are only denying the existence of life.
To lighten this piece, my answer: Why, this must be a case for the X-flies! Say, do you have Agent Mulder's number? Or better still, Agent Scully's? *drooling*
And Sherlock Holmes would answer: Elementary, my friend, elementary!
While a sentimental Yasunari Kawabata would answer: For my feathered friend, its life is like a delicate beautiful flower, that flicks open and close as in an oriental paper fan...
Without doubt, Hermann Hesse would quip: The chicken would prefer to die trying, in finding its own way of crossing the road, rather than to cross at the traffic light!
And that's all folks! Alas, I've enjoyed writing till it lasts...
