Live at the Poll/Awesome Dick

"This is mrdes live at the Poll...via the TV set from his room of course, what were you thinking?"...And boy, am I enjoying myself as an armchair critic. The cheering supporters-at-coffee shops scenes were especially heartwarming to say the least. But nothing and I mean absolutely nothing can beat the exhilaration when the opposition wins their first seat - hat off to Mr. Low - as both broadcasters came on with ghastly looks as if they will lose their jobs the next day, or they were mourning for deaths in their families - whichever is worst. Shiok man! Of course, there was Mr. Chiam, the second oldest in this election: may many more years in parliament await you. All in all, there is a lingering suspicion that I may have caught the bug of rooting for the underdogs this time round. Though without doubt, I welcome Ms Sylvia Lim's courageous fight at Aljunied and look forward to her future participation. In the name of patriotism, 3 cheers for the oppositions: HIP HIP HURRAH! HIP HIP HURRAH! HIP HIP HURRAH!

In between, watching Dick Lee's 2004 concert on DVD or as he put it, his private party, was a great pleasure. Those tunes he wrote for the stage were great I must say. And there was the Leslie Cheung's old hit "追"; tears almost welled up in my eyes as Dick tinkles the piano along his soaring vocal. Just one problem: who the hell named him "Dick" of all names? But then again, you are really some awesome dick, er, Dick...
