Bits and Pieces

Shopping for a bag, a shirt or belt are such joyful adventures even if something always seems missing or incomplete - perhaps a lady's touch.

Bits of dreams dripping like droplets after a night of rain as the sun blazed through the windowpanes with the curtains slightly drawn back on a lazy Sunday morning.

Smiling, thigh-slapping and laughing without a care while reading a book with a cup of hot tea or cappuccino amid the laughter of teenagers ripping through in a fast food restaurant or café.

Walking down a street and suddenly finding me on an unfamiliar path yet excited to make it a game of assuming or fabricating that the next alley or junction leads to a way out.

Aimlessly scanning the book spines in the fiction section of the local library from A-Z, thinking of or trying to remember the names of great authors, or the new titles in the latest previews.

While burrowing through a delicious serving of fiction on a train, catches a passenger bowed over a familiar title and imagined walking over to tell him how good the author or book is.

With fogged goggles, blue transient bubbles, the pool is a surreal world with scantily-clad bodies in ballerina-like slow movement.

With a bit of vodka for melancholy, strums my old guitar while bellowing sad love songs.

Sweat pouring, screaming in ecstasy, adrenaline pumping to screeching J-rock’s guitars and running beside the rushing headlights of evening traffic – all at once.

Posting vaguely inspired by Gao XingJian's In an Instant.
